The Ronald McDonald House of Dallas offers a temporary home-away-from-home for families with a seriously ill or injured child being treated at a Dallas hospital. Following are the guidelines of who can and how to apply to stay with us.

Who can stay at the Ronald McDonald House of Dallas?

Seriously ill or injured children who are under the age of 19 years who are receiving treatment at a Dallas area hospital, and their immediate family may be referred to Ronald McDonald House of Dallas.

The following requirements must be met to stay at the Ronald McDonald House of Dallas.

The child must have a permanent address at least 40 miles from Dallas.
The initial referral must be made by a social worker at the facility where the child is being treated or a Medicaid worker (Medical Transportation).
All adults staying in the house must have current, valid photo identification.

PLEASE NOTE: The initial referral must be made by a social worker where the child is being treated in Dallas, or a Medicaid worker (Medical Transportation). At this time, we do NOT accept email referrals.

Once the initial referral has been made, the Ronald McDonald House of Dallas will contact the family to confirm room availability. With the exception of preauthorized Medicaid, we cannot guarantee placement until the day of need. The Ronald McDonald House reserves the right to verify appointments with the medical service provider.

Are you a returning family?

Returning families may call and put their name on our waiting list and call to verify availability the day placement is needed. If your previous stay was six  months ago or longer, you will need to have a new referral from a Social Worker or  Medicaid worker (Medical Transportation/Texas Medicaid).

Does it cost anything to stay at the Ronald McDonald House of Dallas?

During their stay at the Ronald McDonald House of Dallas all guests are provided lodging, meals, laundry facilities and many other services. In order to offset some of these costs, we request a contribution of $15 per night per room. However, if this presents a hardship for a family, arrangements can be made with the Manager on Duty. No one has ever been turned away from the Ronald McDonald House of Dallas because they couldn’t afford to pay.
