What We Do

With your help, we provide families with better access to the care their sick child needs

Ronald McDonald House

The House serves as a “home away from home” for families with sick or hospitalized children. Located in the Medical District, the House is within driving range of several pediatric hospitals.

Our House can accommodate 89 families every night and was designed with our families’ comfort in mind. We provide a friendly and relaxing space for families to unwind after a long day.

Ronald McDonald Family Room

When families walk into our Ronald McDonald Family Room at Scottish Rite for Children – Frisco, we want them to forget they’re in a hospital. Our Family Room offers a place to rest and regroup right at the hospital, just steps away from their child. Amenities provided include:

  • Snacks and beverages
  • Kitchen and dining area with a microwave and refrigerator
  • Computers with internet access
  • A seating area with recliners and a television

Ronald McDonald Hospitality Programs

Not only do we provide comfort, resources, and things to bring a smile to faces at the House and Family Room, we have them at hospitals as well.

The Ronald McDonald House of Dallas Hospitality Cart and Hospitality Bag Programs are unique ways to support families at our local hospitals. For parents who are reluctant to leave their critically ill or injured child even for just a moment, our carts and bags are a welcome sight.

Wilma Potter Scholarship

The Wilma Potter Scholarship Fund was established in 1999 in honor of Wilma Potter, Resident Manager of the Ronald McDonald House from 1985 – 1999. The scholarship pays tribute to Wilma Potter and to the many patients, parents, and siblings who have met the challenge of a serious illness with dignity and determination. Scholarship recipients are selected based on academic achievement, financial need, and their personal qualities and strengths as attested to in their essay. Recipients must enroll in and attend an accredited university, college or trade school and provide verification of enrollment. Scholarship funds are paid directly to the school where the recipient has enrolled. Scholarship recipients will be notified in mid-May.

Make a Difference for Children & Families

Parents don’t know when their child will need medical help. But they should know they can always access the care they need. And with your help, we can support them all throughout their journey.
