A Place Full of Joy, Love, and Lasting Memories—For Tobi
Tobi’s Mom, Jacquelynn says: “The Ronald McDonald House of Dallas has always held a special place in my heart. My connection began years before Tobi, when my own family stayed there during my leukemia treatment in 2005. Even then, it was more than just a place to stay—it was a home.”
Tobi was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia on June 21, 2022, and our journey brought us to Dallas later that year. From the very first time we stayed at the Ronald McDonald House, Tobi fell in love. It quickly became his home away from home—a place where he could just be a kid.
At the House, Tobi could laugh, play, and relax away from the routines of treatment, all while staying close to the hospital we needed. Because we lived far away, having a place like this meant everything. It gave our family comfort, stability, and the chance to be together during a challenging time.
One of the most meaningful gifts was being able to stay connected as a family. The House welcomed Tobi’s siblings and dad, giving us precious time together and moments that felt normal, even when life was anything but.
Tobi truly embraced every part of the experience.
In 2023, he helped decorate for Christmas, proudly adding to the joy that fills the House during the holidays. He had a special love for trains, and getting to see a collection in the back office became one of his favorite memories—something he talked about often. He also discovered his all-time favorite movie, The Polar Express, and happily played it on repeat in the family room… even in October.
The Ronald McDonald House became a place where small moments turned into lifelong memories—where laughter echoed, traditions were created, and joy was always within reach.
Today, that home continues to hold a very special place in our hearts. It gave us the gift of time together, moments of light, and memories with Tobi that we will always carry with us.
The staff became like family, and the House became part of our story. In honor of Tobi, we now collect aluminum tabs and give back—so other families can experience the same comfort, care, and love that meant so much to us.
Because of the House, we shared more smiles, more laughter, and more moments together.
And that is a gift we will cherish forever.
