She arrived in Dallas unable to walk, find out how a special “home away from home” gave Larissa the best days of her life!
When Larissa and her family first arrived in Dallas in 2017 for an appointment at Scottish Rite Hospital, they were facing many unknowns. They didn’t know where they would stay, but they held onto their faith that God would provide.
As Larissa began a series of surgeries, that provision came in the form of Ronald McDonald House Dallas.
“When we arrived at the Ronald McDonald House, we realized this place was going to be a true blessing in our lives,” her mother shared.
Over the past nine years, the family has returned to the House time and again as Larissa continued her treatment. Looking back, one memory stands out above all the rest.
“While Larissa was receiving her treatment, she would always say that being at the Ronald McDonald House were the best days of her life.”
The journey has not been easy. When Larissa first arrived, she couldn’t walk. After surgery and months of recovery, she took her first steps at just 9 years old. Since then, her path has included many surgeries, countless appointments, and years of perseverance.
“It has been a long process, but God has been so good,” her mother said. “He has blessed us, and above all, He has blessed us with the Ronald McDonald House—a home where we have been welcomed with so much love.”
For their family, the House has provided far more than a place to stay. It has been a place of comfort, care, and compassion during some of life’s most challenging moments.
“We have seen how every single person who works here serves with love,” she said. “They make sure we have three meals a day, a clean and beautiful room, a place to wash our clothes, and above all, a place where we feel deeply loved.”
Today, as they reflect on nearly a decade of care, the family’s gratitude remains unwavering.
“We truly thank God for the Ronald McDonald House.”
